Kinetic Art

In this project, I am collaborating with a group of yoga enthusiasts, building an abstract drawing before developing the image digitally.

I encouraged the participants to work blindfolded, to draw from a sense of spatial awareness rather than sight. As a society, we have become visually dominant at the expense of our other senses.

The group chooses variations of movement, Charcoal sticks in hands, and each blindfolded participant takes their turn to perform, tracing their action on a large-scale paper grid.

Archiving their movement, overlaying and smudging the marks and lines from the previous performer and in doing so, adding to a developing abstract.

I take photographs at various stages, sometimes of the complete shape or smaller sections, before digitally editing the work and imbuing it with multiple colourways.

The final work was entitled ‘Ebb and Flow’.
