Browsing through iPlayer I find myself squealing with delight as my 'geek' lets loose… #BBC'Robot Wars' has returned, the second coming! Yes as an artist I should be extoling the joys of #BBC'Fake or Fortune' which I love as it twists and turns through the refrained opinions of various art experts whilst learning something of the technical wizardry used to establish the authenticity of paints, canvases, paper and provenances. But heah, the robots are individually designed, are lovingly made, their names host the aspirations of their owners, though are somewhat tongue in cheek in that they are meant to strike fear in opponents hearts.… 'Tough as Nails', 'Disconstructor', 'Thor', 'Razor', but you get the idea.. The extent of their lethal dexterities are thrilling. Some are cleverly designed and have very effective destructive techniques, others are nimble, some flip their victims, others thrash, axe, and saw their way through metal, data boards and tyres for those foolish enough to enter the ring with rubber, that's a school boy error in #Robotwars.
Anyway…its not all boys.. with @Drlucyrogers as one of three judges, #AngelaScanlon as co presenter and a selection of female roboteers. Meanwhile I will wait in hope for the return of the 'Big Cheese' (from the first series) strutting his stuff around the arena..
