A visual artist who's current collection of paintings, videos and photography explores narratives of the bizarre or banal
The contemporary artist is the thinking artist who challenges preconceived thoughts, evokes emotion, inspires enlightenment and commonly uses art as a vehicle to communicate information rather than a mere visual recording of what they see.
As an artist I work in various mediums more recently removing oneself from the traditional role of painter, illustrator to the medium of photography and video, which allows for more conceptual ideas and thought analysis to be conveyed. The subject matter determines which medium best conveys the message or feeling of the project.
My figurative work continues and has developed into a system of fine layers of oils, charcoal and acrylic on more large scale canvases. The layers are placed and then displaced in a series of intermittent moves to achieve disparity and dissimilarity.
This work is the antithesis of perfection, which is endlessly demanded in my previous role as that of a fashion make-up artist… ‘ symmetry and balance ‘ rarely change.
Currently I like to give testimony to the banal…a fleeting experience an unobserved thought… or give insight into an unusual viewpoint or peculiar encounter, an appreciation for the overlooked.
